Position Overview
As a Volunteer Photographer at We The Free, you will play a key role in visually documenting our initiatives, events, and campaigns, helping us connect with our audience and drive meaningful engagement. Your photography skills and keen eye for capturing impactful moments will produce visuals that will be featured in our campaigns, social media, and outreach materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Photography: Plan, execute, and capture high-quality photographs that align with our brand identity and messaging.
- Diversity in documentation: Photograph a variety of subjects including events, campaigns, protests, animals, and people.
- Storytelling through imagery: Capture emotion, action, and moments that resonate with our audience and evoke empathy and compassion.
- Location scouting: Coordinate with the organizer(s) to scout the event location for factors like lighting, scenery, and accessibility to optimize the shoot.
- Equipment management: Manage and maintain equipment, including cameras, lenses, and lighting devices to ensure proper functioning during the events.
- Photo archiving: Organize and maintain a digital archive of photographs for future reference and use. Ensure that photographs are properly labeled, categorized, and stored for easy retrieval.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with team members to understand project requirements and objectives.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in operating cameras and other photography equipment
- Knowledge of photography techniques and principles, including composition, lighting, and exposure
- Strong portfolio showcasing photography skills and creative vision
- Storytelling skills and ability to convey messages through imagery
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for capturing compelling visuals
- Passion for animal rights and alignment with We The Free's mission
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Excellent communication skills
Time Commitment
This is a volunteer position, and we appreciate any time you can dedicate to supporting our cause. The time commitment can be flexible based on your availability and the needs of ongoing projects.
Financial Compensation
This is a voluntary position, with potential for future paid roles. Every paid member of the WTF team started as a volunteer initially! (Of course, a future role cannot be guaranteed)
